Quarterback Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles was just invited by Nike to re-sign and make another endorsement deal with them after almost four years of not getting his services due to his legal troubles in the past. This kind of thing does not happen to any player everyday. Once a product drops an endorser, there is almost always no re-signing, especially with names such as Nike. The brand can basically get whoever they want.

It was in 2001 when Nike first signed Vick, who was still a rookie at that time. Vick’s contract was terminated in four years ago, 2007, after Michael filed a plea agreement admitting that he took part in a dogfighting ring. It was because of this that Vick went to prison for 21 months. And this is also enough reason for Nike to terminate Vick’s contract.

The terms of the said deal were not release, so it was really between Nike and Vicks.

Nike representatives say that Michael acknowledges his mistakes in the past, and for them this is more than enough. Nike also wants people to know that they do not condone the past mistakes of people and instead they give importance and focus on the positive changes that the player is making. They can see that Vick is doing everything to better himself off the field, and this is really something that is very important. This could also be a very good message that Nike is sending to the people – second chances.

In fact, Michael Vick was chosen as the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year after missing two seasons and playing just a few games in 2009. This was really a very big thing for Michael. This opened doors for him again.

According to Andrew Stroth who is an attorney based in Chicago and who was the one who negotiated the deal for Nick, Michael is really very dedicated these days, especially working with people like the ones in Nike in making a difference in people’s lives, especially the young ones. Michael wants to make Nike as his platform in reaching out to people as a professional athlete and have a positive impact on the young generation of today.

With all these, and even with an injury that made him miss three games, Michael Vick is back and again considered as one of the most exciting players in the NFL.
