There had been a major hullabaloo surrounding Feliz’s stay with the Rangers but all that was drowned when the player was picked by the manager to start this years’ season (2011). But he will just close games for the team. Despite the player’s outstanding Cactus League breakthrough while playing starts the Ranger board chose his present position over the latter by holding a press conference on Thursday announcing that Neftali would be their key closer. Rangers’ right-handers would be Hunter and Matt while the left hand frontiers would be manned by Wilson C.J.
Later in this season the incumbent American League winners are planning to move Feliz right through the rotation squad. With low springs by right-wingers Ogando and O’Day Feliz faced no automatic replacement. His stakes were raised higher than competitors due to winning AL 2011 Rookie of the season honors and a clean first year set in 2010 by saving 40 plays. In 2010 Feliz struck 12 out of 14 innings and a posted 1.93 ERA. But critiques question if he is able to do this again this year given that his main feeder Cliff Lee moved to Philadelphia. It would be a major blow if Rangers fall off this season’s pennant race because Feliz may be outstretched to play rotation.
